Special Angles and Trigonometric Functions 2

In class on Friday we continued with Special angles and Trig functions. We applied everything that we learned in previous classes to find out if a statement is true. We also did some exact value examples.

To find out if statement is true you have to convert radians to degrees by multiplying radians by 180/pie. After finding the degrees draw a special triangle that fits the angle. Then use SOH CAH TOA to find the exact value of the each angle. You can also look for exact values in a table of values that we did in class. After finding an exact value for each angle, substitute the exact values into the equation and solve the equation, if Left hand side= Right hand side then the statement is true.

For Example:

sin π/2 [ sin π/6 + cos π/3] = tan π/4

1 [ 1/2 + 1/2 ] = 1

1 + 1 = 1

1 = 1

LHS = RHS
