Graphing Absolute Value Functions .. Continued

Today in class, we learned how to re-graph our absolute value points, if some, or all of your y-values are negative, which are then made into positive y-values.

  • plot the points on your graph by using the absolute value equation given to you.

  • any negative value on your graph is then made positive by changing it to its opposite value. (-1 becomes 1, -2 becomes 2, and so on.)

  • the x-values are not touched.

Example:

The negative y-values are now brought over the x-axis and are made positive.

Now all of your y-values are positive, and your graph is complete.
